This is a latest phone from a latest manufacturer – as you know Acer came into being the smart phone manufacturers earlier this year, with world’s first Windows Mobile cell phone Acer DX900 – and now Acer X960 Smartphone. This has the new Acer Shell interface which appears promising.

As for the design, Acer X960 looks pretty likeable. It is solid but not too much heavy and is comfortable for using with a single hand. Size 4.19 x 2.32 x 0.54 inches (106.4 x 59 x 13.7 mm) The display screen is of 2.8 Inch 480 x 640 pixel, easy to handle, because of its sufficient response to touch, without much overly sensitive. But the problem is, it is best only indoors as the display vanishes on bright sunlight. The build quality is fine and the materials used give a comfortable feeling to touch.

Acer X960 has send and end buttons – one for starting the built in GPS, another for navigating to the home screen and the D-Pad, which is round shaped and is in the front. MicroSD slot and power/camera shutter buttons are located on the right side and voice note key and volume rocker on the left side. On the back of the smartphone, you have a 3.2” mega-pixel auto-focus Camera, along with LED flash and a mirror. All the buttons are located conveniently for easy use.

As for Acer Shell interface and functionality, it has a new personalization pack for the familiar Windows Mobile. The operating system is Windows Mobile 6.1 professional – which is best for business users, but not so comfortable for those using their fingers. So the manufacturers have simplified a pack of personalization. Acer X960 has two separate home screens – you can swap between them easily by sliding the finger up and down. The first one is a list of icons running to several pages, but the second screen is most important – the virtual 3D office. It has an exemplary functionality to be seen to be believed.
